you unplugged or stopped the fan, the BIOS inhibited further booting, no bypass, no disable checking in the CMOS settings. You *MUST* have a healthy *DELL* fan plugged in.

I have *no* idea what the signal was on the 3rd lead either, like I said - I don't think anything short of a scope would've helped. It wasn't a regular 3 wire fan.
