I mean, on my home machine, I name my characters different things. (Sorry! That snide comment was brought to you by my evil other brain. I'm not really a jerk. I think.) Once you start being careful, and get your timings down for when to do things like the mines and sokoban, you can have a pretty strong character by midgame. My first ascension was my most satisfying gaming experience ever; I wish you the same. It will be awesome if enough UF readers start playing and ascending. If we could make the top 100 list all ascensions, I think that'd be a truly impressive feat. Even some of the big servers that I've seen have non-ascensions in the top 10.
