Once you've added those 2 lines at the end of /etc/make.conf run bootstrap again. Tho you could try "emerge --resume" but I'm unsure if that will continue all of the bootstrap script emerges. What that does is make it resume from where it left off in the emerge process but there might be more to the bootstrap script than just a long emerge command.
