But I haven't addressed or even considered the problems they might create.
What about:
Lowering the yearly pay to a more reasonable amount, like say, $55,000, instead of six figures?
Remove the "You get paid for the rest of your life" thing.
Give all candidates an equal amount of campaign money, time on TV, other exposure, etc. Plus remove all campaign contributions, period. Plus no gifts, perks, etc. while in office. Somehow create checks so that no legislator will monetarily benefit from decisions made.
Per person vote, no more delegates!
Or heck, lets start thinking drastically: why not start thinking about national, state, and local per-person votes on almost every decision currently made by legislators. Start doing a "vote-a-month" type of thing, I dunno. I just hate the idea of choosing one person to make all of my decisions for the next 2/4/6 years. The idea of a legislature has the ability to be obsolete, if done carefully over the next few decades. Actually, this is an interesting topic, maybe I'l do a TLP on it.
