I've got a tough decision to make... by mcnutcase2004-02-16 03:23:44
  Perhaps a change of venue/program? by spiffikins 2004-02-16 09:44:59
I'm not sure what your program of study is, but I know that a friend of mine was desperately unhappy at the university we both started out at - she ended up taking a 4 month job up north, and finished her degree at a different university, where the program was much better handled and made her happy.

Are you doing a writing degree? Have you looked into other schools? Maybe there is just not a match between your needs and the program you are in?

I know that my friends and I *all* went through periods during our uni time where we wanted to chuck it all and just go dig ditches - questioning why you are there and whether it's right for you, is normal.

I finished my degree, even though I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to get a job that I wanted with that degree, but I was one year shy of completion, and the things I was learning were interesting and I could see them being useful.

I'm very glad that I did finish my degree though, as when it came time to apply for the post-grad program that I *did* want to be in, I needed that piece of paper, plus that degree allowed me to get my work visa when I needed it.
