If the degree is not important to you for money or pride reasons, and if you don't want to use it anyway, ditch it. I love writing myself, and I can't wait to get over my own degree so I can start some writing. You HAVE to do one thing though - if you quit, you HAVE to keep writing, and you HAVE to keep working. Quiting may be hard, but it makes it easier to quit later, and harder to start.
