If it compiles OK with MinGW, I'll use that... Cygwin does odd things to me sometimes. If a home roll doesn't work, I'll definitely fall back on Cygwin. (thanks for pointing that out, BTW- since I took X off my Linux box, I've not thought about Cygwin at all).
