| I couldn't face a degree course. That was 25 years ago (eek!) and in that time I have come across jobs that demand a degree. But not a huge number - most IT jobs prefer experience and professional qualifications. And, IMHO, anyone who demands a degree plus experience is best avoided... (I was told last year that I couldn't apply for a post with a particular consultancy because I didn't have a degree. Just 20 years in IT, with 12 years experience in the exact field they wanted. Go figure...)
A degree may help get the first job. Maybe the second. But there are alternatives. Check out the British Computer Society, who offer Chartered status (higher than a degree). Also, if you want to finish later, the Open University may well accept your progress so far and give you credits for it. (An Open University degree seems to be regarded by most employers in the UK as 'better' than a standard degree - it takes a huge commitment and dedication to put the time in.) Check with your university to see if you can get some sort of record of what you have done.
