when... Ok I admit it's bad that I was part of this but umm the woman isn't a nice woman and what she said was totally out of line... she had no training or experience to offer the particular advice she did.... I joined in a small group that tried to briefly hmm slow Dr. Laura's site. This happened over 4 yrs ago probably. She had advised this mother to dump off her autistic child and go have a party. Dr Laura isn't a licensed medical practitioner nor a psychologist. She is a doctor of something but it was totally unrelated and has nothing to do with councelling people. She also had no history with autistic children or adults nor various services that might be offered to parents in distress. Now also know that this parent had came and talked to some of us autistics online personally in an irc chat place and also via email for a few specific email groups. People knew her offline and online so knew it was really her. She even said later she thought dr laura was out of line. Anyways a few other in the group had other extra reasons to dislike her... they were lesbians and didn't like her stance on that. Anyways long story short. Small group of people with either a script or sitting there do repetitve page reloads and pings. It didn't do much to Dr Laura's site but 3 of the 4 involved were using dialup and not broad band. And for the record it was the only time I participated in such a protest and I never denied I was part of the protest we all publically at the time pretty much said why we did it.(ie the woman shouldn't practice medicine without a degree in it and her advice even licensing aside was out of line) However broad band connected machines particularly if they are using linux probably could launch a better assult... my guess is it might be a few of those disgruntled people who weren't happy about not being able to get their comic via fetching script or whatever as Illiad had by some past posts I think pointed out more were peeved just that a few people at livejournal.
