"I'm aware of the fact that this is a known defect. I don't want to install the fix for it, I just want you to fix the problem."

"There's no backup. We don't need to backup our data because we've got it on a RAID volume." It wasn't a disk that failed, someone redirected the output from a command to the main database file, giving them redundant copies of a corrupted database.
