So, how do you deal with someone, who refuses... by swisscheese2004-02-10 16:06:10
I agree to disagree by Celticess 2004-02-10 16:21:53
My roommate has some rather unusual beliefs. Some I'm indiffrent to but some I'm against and I've got good reason to not share those views. He's also heavily into conspiracy theories.(now I do have views on the odd one or leanings a certain way but some are just too wacko/strange and I wonder how a smart/sane person could believe in them). I've tried to reason with him. I've tried to point out facts and logic, etc... it just doesn't work. So rather than argue over it and realizing he's not going to change I've just decided to agree to disagree. He knows my views, I know his and we leave it at that. Unless he tries to infringe on my stuff and make me try what he wants(such as I pointed out a few things on the more radical original atkins diet I didn't like and said I was going to modify my diet so he tried to guilt me into/justify why I should be on the same diet as him) then I compromise best I can but I essentially stand my ground... if it's his way fine for him to do whatever but it's not my way or what I wish to do and he must respect that.(tho sometimes I swear he doesn't respect it but roommates sometimes are a hard thing ... sometimes friends are better in another house lol... however there are advantages to sharing a detached home which is why I "compromise" and try to put up with somethings that irritate me)
