the entire case the CPU. You and some of the others here know better but, John Q. Public doesn't. It takes a lot of effort just to get JQP to realise that the monitor isn't the computer.
Some poor sales/support guy finally got JQP to realise that the computer is where all the processing went on and JQP immediately asked where the CPU was (having read about it in Byte), the sales/support guy pointed at the box, wherein the CPU does reside. JQP, not knowing any better, grabs onto the idea that the whole box is the CPU. The exhausted sales/support guy, thankful for any small victory he could get, went along with the erroneous conclusion. At least, JQP wasn't calling the CRT a computer.
BTW, it isn't an accident that JQP can be read as 'jacked up' and the other name, for JQP, is Joe L. User. I'm sure that you can figure it out from there. |
