And she was laughing, joking, and trying to live life to the fullest til she died... so even when she became bed bound until she couldn't talk anymore she'd make jokes til her mind/motor function went more.(it was brain cancer)
But I've lost several family now to cancer. They go through a mourning period... also they endure pallitive chemo like my daughter did in some cases to buy a bit more time to do things/be with the people they love for a bit longer.
My dad died of colon cancer.(he and my daughter were pronounced terminal the same year only my dad died that year and later my daughter went in remission) His brother died about a year ago from the same cancer. And their sister died many years ago when I was small again from the same cancer(she was 40) Then my cousin through my dads family died of leukemia. A close family friend also died of lung cancer. So between my daughter and the others I've been around cancer a fair bit. Those that didn't die but also had cancer in my family are my sister (cervical cancer which came back and second time she got a hystorectomy so now she's ok), and many aunts/uncles/grandparents had skin cancer. Right now my sons aunt on his dads side had breast cancer, got a radical double mastectomy, was expected to die but went into remission, and now has had it come back.(she's not told the kids as her kids also lost their dads parents to lung cancer and the kis are a little freaked out after my daughter also dying) |
