hey, I'm *in* that situation by subbywan 2004-02-10 10:55:44
work is making noises about outsourcing to India atm, so I'm in this situation. I work where I do not because it's the best I can manage, but because I like what I do.

It's not a case of "the avg american worker" who don't want to do this. It's a question of motivation.

And yeah, I'd LOVE to see the VP/SVP+ jobs outsourced, but then again, (having just gone through this where we now do have a foreign snr management person), you run into a LOT of problems with cultural issues where they have the clout to enforce their ideas (like business practices, not views on God) on you, which just does NOT work in the US culture, and you have clients yelling at you for sucking, and you have management yelling at you for sucking and there's not a damn thing you can do about it.

The US will always need a certain amount of idiot-script jobs, but if they use this as a motivational tool to get people back into schools to learn new things, the overall outcome could be highly beneficial.
