Followup to Glytch78's 'Question' thread by theanomaly 2004-02-10 08:30:35
From your own personal experience, or the experience of those you know, which of the following seems to get you farther:

1) Degree / institutional recognition (Bachelors, CompSci, etc)

2) Equivalent person-hours spent on industry certificates (SL275, CCNA, MCSE, etc)

If my assessment is right, a set of certificates will set you up well in the technical side, but the degree allows you a good taste of both tech and a possibility of management. Or is this not true somehow?
