by all these "domain owners" in the com and net TLD. If Verisign is PAID for this service, it means (normally) that this payment is justified, as in "they do something useful, which they cannot continue to do without being paid".
That means: if "I" have to duplicate the TLD servers, I will have to cough up the money that already paid Verisigns servers. So, I pay for "my" domain name, and i depend on others to care for theirs, thus spreading the cost of internet routing over millions of users.
Your way, i end up duplicating this cost within my agency, which already is underfunded |
