got a knoppix cd? by Celticess 2004-02-05 18:57:42
if so and you want to definitly make sure your machines safe... put it in the drive boot up with it. Then using a linux file manager take a peak at files on your drive. Some virus go as a second .*.* because only one of the two extensions show. But a few file types can contain virus and be a valid file type. Thease are usually things like gif files which can contain extra command sets or some mp3's. Txt files don't typically contain exec macros when launched. But if it had a secondary file extension you can't see(as windows at least in earlier versions would trunicate it) when you go to run it it could run a malicious macro or something.
