and for me, it takes a LOT to hate anything.
My bill is due tomorrow. I decided to pay it online so I could have my money in my account for the longest time possible. Last time I payed the bill, I payed online also, but I paid very early just so I could get it over with and not have to worry about it.
Between then and now, they changed their online payment system and didn't give any notice.
I went to pay today, and it made me choose a date for the payment to be posted (something they didn't make me do before) and the earliest they'd let me post it is Monday.
So now they're going to assess me finance charges (I'm pretty sure) because of the "late payment", even though I PAID ON TIME, and I had NO WARNING that they had altered their system.
... do I have a right to be mad at them for this?
I'm intending to dispute any finance charges they assess on me, and if they refuse to reverse any of those finance charges, I will have to decide whether to terminate my account with them on principle ... ...
but they're my only credit card with a decent limit that's accepted at pretty much all stores... if I give up that card, I'm left with an extremely low-limit card that's usable everywhere, and a high-limit card that's usable at a few places...
bah.
Maybe I should pay off all the other charges that've gone through too (that weren't part of this last statement that was due) so I can see EXACTLY what they charge me and how much interest they charge on that. From what I understand, one late payment results in interest being assessed automatically on all other unpaid balances, even before they're due... I've never had a late payment before in my life, so I have no clue how it's actually handled.
How dare they do this to me when I'm in the middle of so much other crap in my life? |
