High Speed Networking by amish 2004-02-05 08:47:39
I am thinking of puttering around with some high speed networking options for a small cluster that I administer. Ones I am familiar with are Myrinet, Gigabit Ethernet and Fast Ethernet. I am wondering what sort of time/learning curve/cash investment would be involved in any of these you happen to be familiar with.

Linux support (especially with RH9) is a major issue for me, though I think most if not all of these protocols were set up in a *nix environment originally so I am not thinking it is a big deal. Is the OS interface going to be the same or are we talking total reeducation here? I am not super familiar with the state of the art, so if I am stupid and out of date with the protocols I am familiar with I ache to be brought up to date. :)

I have a budget, so cost isn't a super huge issue if its not insane (ie factor of 2 over boring ethernet vs factors of 100x 1000x etc heh).
