In response to an accusation that I'm a Communist by NOLAWitch2006-11-19 12:55:59

So in other words... by fiordhraoi 2004-02-05 07:35:47
You are completely incapable of respecting the fact that half or more of the US population agrees with the man on most issues and that you could, maybe, just possibly, be wrong. That you are correct in your every estimation, and that anyone who disagrees with you is categorically stupid or deluded.

You are so lacking in the basic social courtesies that exist that for some unknown reason, you feel your points (which you hold as completely valid) are best expressed by pointing at someone and saying "He's a mean dummy, I hate him."

You cannot stretch your mind far enough to encompass the idea of giving an abstract respect. So you have no respect for justice, for example? Or freedom? Or the concept of what may well be the single most powerful office in the world being transferred every 4-8 years by peaceful means, and a basic respect for that office because of said fact?

You can't even understand the fact that if you base your arguments on points rather than insults, you might get listened to a bit more by people who don't already agree with you?

You only give respect to someone who agrees with your views, and can't separate yourself from them enough to think "Well, even if he doesn't agree with me, I can respect him for (insert X here, ie, worthy debate opponent, astute political person, etc, etc)."

You are unable to disagree strongly with an idea without necessarily villanizing those who support it? For example, if you were pro-life, you couldn't disagree with pro-choice people yet still respect them overall?

If you really can't escape from hedonic impulse in your associations, I'm sorry. You're just...well, the name calling is your department, so I'll leave it to you. :)
