anyone can sue anyone for any reason, the only question is whether they'll win. Nobody can be assured that they won't be sued in ANY situation, and nobody can be assured that a jury won't come to an anomalous result and find liability where there shouldn't have been any. My understanding is the organizers will not give any guarantees.

Basicly, the organizers found a (hopefully) legal solution that will allow them to hold the event. It doesn't cover your liability, as the organizers don't have the time or money to make sure that what you're uploading has been cleared legally. It's YOUR responsibility to clear it. YOU BEAR THE RISK if you don't clear it before uploading it.

Now, will anyone sue you? That's a good question. Are you violating the copyright of any UFies? If not, the copyright holder will never see the fact that you recorded the song or see it available for download. That's the result of the required double-registration system.

That is, unless you make a huge deal about it on a public bulletin board system.

Gee, I wonder why I was trying to shut you up. It was for your own protection.

See the thanks I get?
