In response to an accusation that I'm a Communist by NOLAWitch2006-11-19 12:55:59
I agree with you on most of this (slightly OT) by fiordhraoi2004-02-05 06:56:13

The office hasn't done anything to earn respect. Only the man who holds the office can do that - or not, if he happens to be like Dumbya.

I thought only royalty felt entitled to unearned respect, but you seem to think otherwise. That's not a very American attitude, you know. We were supposed to be independent folk who believed "all men are created equal". Just because you have a lot of money doesn't make you better than the homeless guy you may have given a dollar to.

On a side note, if lies from the man in that office bother you, I can't see why you'd like Bush. He's told more and worse lies than any living holder of that office.

Anyway, abstract concepts like an "office" don't deserve respect. People do. But _only_ those people who earn it. And if a day comes when the current POTUS starts earning respect, he'll get some from me. Until then, he's still Dumbo the Wonder Boy who lucked into the most powerful job in the world.
