In response to an accusation that I'm a Communist by NOLAWitch2006-11-19 12:55:59
I agree with you on most of this (slightly OT) by fiordhraoi 2004-02-05 06:56:13
Many CEOs out there are absolute jackasses who should be booted into the ocean as fish food.

However, I wish that people would refrain from using terms such as "Dumbya" when referring to the President. If you don't like him, fine. If you disagree with his policies, fine. But at least be respectful of the office he holds, if not the man himself.

I didn't like President Clinton. I thought that when he started implementing his own economic policies a few years into his run that they were only half thought out, I thought that he was more concerned with his image on most issues rather than the issues themselves, and the man sat down in front of a camera and with no room for argument bald-faced lied to me (and the rest of America).

Even in the midst of the whole Lewinsky thing, I didn't call him "Cigar man," "Slick Willy," or any of the other worse non-FYOS nicknames I'm sure you can think of. I called him "the President," or "President Clinton." If I had met him, I would have called him "Mr. President." If nothing else, no matter how much I disagreed with him, at at least one point in time functionally half of the country or more thought that he'd do a good job as President.

So if nothing else, fine, rip President Bush apart on the issues, attack what you believe to be flaws in his logic, and protest his actions. But give him the respect the office deserves, if you cannot give him respect as a man who has made it to where he is. Anything else is childish name-calling and beneath someone who wants to make a valid point.
