| In response to an accusation that I'm a Communist |

(not that there's anything wrong with it) by this post, I will state categorically that when I lambast CEOs, I'm not slagging those who are decent, responsible human beings. The ones I have issues with are the heads of Enron, Tyco, WorldCom, etc. I have nothing but admiration for the heads of Malden Mills, Southwest Airlines and other such companies that have been profiled on "60 Minutes" as paragons of corporate virtue.
I am NOT a hate-mongering bigot! Merely calling into question the obscenely bloated salaries of executives is NOT hate-mongering any more than questioning Dumbya's policies is unpatriotic. The executives which I revile aren't your "work hard at starting your own business" people; they're greedy, old-boy-network, entitled-to-bloated-compensation jerks. They're taking this country down the wrong road and I for one won't stand for it without protest. It's not just this country they're ruining either; they're out to suck the whole planet down with them.
If some of you feel akin to those jerks, you need to reevaluate if you really have that much in common with them. I'm pretty sure no UFie has a $6K shower curtain in their bathroom. These are not people who started in the mailroom and worked their way up the corporate ladders. They are not people who poured their lifeblood into building a business. They are the carrion crows who swooped down into the board rooms and took over with no goal other than to get the best compensation packages for themselves regardless of what it did to the company as a whole and with no regard to any ethical practices to accomplish it. Also remember, the bad ones give the good ones a bad reputation by association.
I wonder at anyone who would defend and champion the likes of Kenneth Lay, et al, without being a paid attorney for said sack of manure. |
