O.J. was Not Proved Innocent! He was just not proved guilty, and that isn't the same thing.

Presumption of innocence is not the same as being proved innocent either.

You stated that O.J. was "Proven Innocent", and that is just not true.

The civil vs. criminal distinction doesn't let the government get around anything, as the government Cannot bring civil charges against someone. Civil courts are strictly for disputes between "civilians". If the government wants to go after you they have to do it through the criminal courts.

The civil penalties were assessed because O.J. Was Convicted in the civil courts. A conviction, or lack thereof, in a criminal case is only one more piece of evidence in the civil suit. The cases are not cojoined, and losing one does not negate the other.

I got the impression that the violation of O.J.'s rights was more of a fabrication by the defense team then anything grounded in reality.
