It may end up like that. It may not. It depends on the people involved on both sides. With our current process, i'd agree with you. If that process changes though (as part of this type of reform), it may reduce the number of incidents of false convictions for death penalty cases for a number of reasons:

Having to push through more appeals faster would mean that evidence is fresher, peoples recollections are better, etc. It'll also incite the do-gooders (term not used derisively) to push harder for thingsn like mandatory DNA testing in all cases, etc.

Good and bad things could come from it. All we can be sure of right now is that the current process needs to change.
