I was quite suprised - after I got home from Uni in December, I weighed myself and found I'd lost about 5 kilos or so over 10 weeks, while eating probably around 25% *more* than I had at home. But, the previous year at home, I'd had virtually no exercise (yet my weight had stayed constant, more or less), and here I'd done the rowing and associated training. And I wasn't even trying to lose weight. Well, I'd had the thought on my mind that it wouldn't be bad to do so, but I wasn't actively trying. In fact, I ate far too much chocolate and various sugary snacks during those 10 weeks. I conclude that I seem to burn quite a lot of calories even at rest, but have a tendency to eat so much that I will get fat anyway if I don't watch it. I mean, here at Uni, when I cook for myself, I often make an amount that should be enough for about 4 people and finish more than half of it in one go. |
