A DoS attack by FORWARDING? by quilting_kitty 2004-01-15 10:46:57
I guess somebody got tired of getting all those pointless forwards in their inbox and decided to strike a blow against ignorance. Either that or there's one PATHETIC 'hacker' out there somewhere. I just got the following e-mail in my work inbox:

To: All <my company>

If you receive an e-mail titled: "It Takes Guts to Say Jesus," please ignore it and delete the message from your inbox. Do not forward this e-mail as it is a hoax, there is no virus associated with this and its intent is to cause a denial of service to e-mail servers by fooling the recipient into forwarding it to all their contacts. You will be notified once this threat abates. In the meantime, if you have additional questions regarding this hoax, contact the <my company> Security Information Analysis Center at <e-mail address>. If you have access to the Internet, you can get more information on Internet hoaxes, chain letters and urban myths, by visiting the Department of Energy's Hoaxbusters Web site at http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org.
