Consider the Death Penalty... by DesertRat662006-11-19 12:55:59

I have no problem with that but, by Slamlander 2004-01-15 10:19:01
I do have issues with getting the correct scumbag.

Let's take a well beaten horse, for example ... the OJ Simpson case. If he is truely innocent then one, or more, truely guilty scumbags got away with murder, at OJ's expense. The list of FUBARs, exhibited during the investigation, and clearly uncovered in court, worries me severely. It worries me even more that they were able to get around the legal system and nail a innocent man, proven so in criminal court, in a civil court. huh! ... what happened to double-jeopardy? There is something seriously wrong with a system that works like that, IMHO. It seems that accusation is sufficient because they'll get you one way or another and your actual guilt or innocent seems to be irrelevent.

Bringing back another issue, look at all those guy they were foirced to let go, based on DNA evidence. Reviews, that I have seen, of those cases clearly show where they had been railroaded. They should never have been on Death Row in the first place. It gets worse, if it wasn't them then what happened to the scum who *really* committed the crimes that they were falsely convicted of?

BTW, the falsly imprisoned are victims as well. One guy was in jail for 17 years. They let him out with no recompense whatsoever. Not even an apology. He had a family. He is now divorced, his kids are grown and don't know him, he has no marketable job skills, no unemployment, now welfare, no job assistance, nothing ... not even the benefits that a convicted criminal has access to. Oh yeah, he is in huge debt to his legal staff and he is 57 years old.
