the procedure in the above experiment was as follows. The "witnesses" were asked to travel a certain distance by train and not speak to each other. While they were waiting at the station the actors turned up on the perrong (sp) adjacent to theirs.

Afterwards the "witnesses" were questioned one by one. Question one was "Did you speak to anyone about what happened at the station". All (or all who was used, I don't remember wich) said no. Question two was "please tell in your own words what happened". They spontaneously told a fairly detailed story, that on all accounts but one (the one that was right) would have put one of the actors in prison.
