30 years ago was 1974. Nixon had just resigned the presidency of the US, IIRC. I was a junior in HS. Television and films may have been more "polite" (because we didn't have cable TV yet, and barely had VCRs), but our parents were up in arms about the music we listened to and the rampant s*x everyone was having - this was before AIDS, and whatever you could catch could be cured with a shot.
