I agree - and that's why the Declaration of Independance is not a basis for our legal system. The Constitution, which is much more detailed and less inclined to absolutes, IS the basis. It is a very meticulous and open ended document (I just re-read it again - first time since US Govt. class in high school).

And that's the beauty of it. It is open to interpretation AND it sets up the bodies to interpret it. Or change it if necessary. Which we probably need to do - those non-POW POWs are one example.
