You say "liberty", but that's a direct contradiction with the Preamble (and likely with some parts of the Constitution, as well). But we all know that it's acceptable. In fact, it is written somewhere. Many somewheres.
But what else is written? What other rights that you are apparently taking for granted aren't? When you commit a crime, you _are_ abrogating some of your rights temporarily - but which ones, and why?
We just accept that "liberty" and "pursuit of happiness" are abrogated. But why shouldn't some other rights be abrogated? What about the right to vote? (What is that, exactly? Free speech, or something else?)
