I have a question. I have a linksys BEFSX41 router. At school they recently said that there were to be no more DHCP servers run on campus.

To my understanding the router counts as one while dhcp is enabled. however, I only have one wall jack and two computers. Is there a way to just have a router as a sort of port replicator (right term?) instead of having it assign a local IP to the machines behind it?

each machine is registered with the school, so when they plug directly into the wall jack, it gives them an IP. I've tried a few different things with the settings on the router, after turning off dhcp.

none of them worked. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, i'm kinda at a loss. and yes.. I did look at the manual. it wasn't too helpful. thanks
