i will have to read that FAQ already posted I guess :)

I think though that after making and evaluating arguments you can come to an agreement that though you havent changed your opinion or perception there are equally valide points of view different from your own.

This doesnt negate any value in debating them. By presenting your beliefs and arguments you can become exposed to new ideas and while they may not change your views you come away with a better understanding and hopefully appreciation for other views different from your own.
