The purpose of arguing by subbywan2004-01-13 11:49:09
The purpose of arguing is to piss people off. by dire_lobo2006-11-19 12:55:59
Yeah, that's approximately my opinion. by Nea 2004-01-13 12:54:20
I like discussions and even debates, I tend not to like arguments.

To my internal dictionary (this may or may not be the complete, official dictionary definition), an argument involves a high emotional stake in the discussion and often this leads to people not hearing the other side, refusing to give in on points that they agree with just because it would weaken their side, and often trying to annoy the competition to make them have a more difficult time continuing their arguments. That's not fun to me, and it seems to have little purpose at all (other than perhaps to blow off steam which can be a valid purpose at times).
