The pope was already named as another one of the "revered" authorities, even able to exert some sort of power, albeit not a military one.
A completely different one would be (even per definition/name) the IANA or to impersonate that, the late Jon Postel. Or how about the IEEE?
Yet another different one would be, say, Steven Hawking. Surely an authority in the field of astronomy. And that position of authority, while not one that allows for the exertion of any sort of power, surely is not one created through military backing... |
