| true with the coffee to some extent |

but... have you ever worked in a restaurant? I have at Zellers and at A&W years ago in my youth. Now zellers coffee doesn't get quite that hot but some of the fast food chains do. Hotter than the temp of the water most people would use at home. This is because they make it in large vats/containers and keep it on warmers or they have large machines that dispense it not unlike a pop machine. I do believe fast food places have a responsibility to put warnings on somethings. I believe that after working in the industry. That is simply because things aren't just hot they are scorching hot. I agree tho yes you know your buying whatever it's bound to be hot. They know selling hot products they should have it in reasonable containers or people can't even consume it so wont want to buy it... but also if there is no warning about just how hot it can get they are liable. If they give "warning this can be as hot as <list degrees> use caution in handling" that absolves them or possible law suits. I should also point out that not everyone has the same sensitivity levels. Some people can consume things too hot and not realize til they get sick. Such was the case with my son when he was small as he is under tactile sensitive. He has learned with much warning if it's steaming and grown ups or friends say it's too hot that maybe he should give it a moment because frankly he can't really tell if it's too hot tho he does seem to sense if somethings not warm enough. Yes I realize most people don't have that issue... but most people going through a drive through at fast food are in a rush and sometimes they need to see that they should stop and wait a moment first before consuming whatever.
When I've got stuff at fast food places at least in recient years... far majority warned me if whatever just came out of the cooker and is very hot. They partially do it because it's even difficult for them to pack it and hand it to people because they can get burned or they find it too hot. They also know that they personally wouldn't want to bite into it and be scorched.
With the animal thing that is true to a level too. But think thease places tend to hype the product... then every kid wants one. As parents it's part of our responsibility to say no or to educate ourselves on it. But also it is good if the people warn in advance that thease aren't good as pets or require lots of care and use it to raise awareness... it also gets them on the good side of many places and gets positive PR which also in itself helps promote shows. I believe it is to some extent animal groups responsibility when something like this comes out to help raise awareness too... much as what the aquarium did here regarding those fish. They decided to stop the trend before it really got started after observing what happened in the US... and movies often release in the US before here... |
