Disney certainly does hold some responsibility in this case, I'm just pointing out that the accident wasn't caused my excess negligence on their part. Accidents are bound to happen eventually, no matter how carefull you are. As far as I can tell, they took all reasonable precautions, and dealt with it very proffesionaly afterwards.
And yes, when it comes to certain products, there is some legal and/or moral responsibility for the companies to include warning labels. For instance, Nyquil should be responsible for warning people not to operate heavy machinery or motor vehicles after using their product, or at the very least stating clearly that their product causes drowsiness. On the other hand, asking McDonalds to put warning labels on their coffe, or asking Disney to tell people not to buy dogs that they can't take care of....that's just plain silly. Coffee's supposed to be hot, and everyone knows what's involved in taking care of dogs. Companies have a responsibility to warn consumers of the side-effects of their products which aren't obvious, but consumers have a resonsibility to apply SOME thought when using those products. |
