I do know something about big business. While I'm not rich my brother owns a business and works with major corporations... same with the company he was employed with before forming his own company. As mentioned my son does have a family member working at disney... I also had family members involved in upper areas of other corporations or who also owned them.(such was the case with my grandfather owning one and my dad when he was alive being on good terms with the execs of some large ones) Yes there is some consumer responsibility. But also some respnosibility to point out "do not try this at home" to some extent too... As for disney they should of checked the company more closely when it's subcontracted or made terms of the maintenance contract more clear. Tho you want to bet that that corp is no longer sub contracting for them and probably is blacklisted in the line of work they do? Disney likes all pr but like some places wont tolerate bad pr and that type of fear that could be generated by people thinking rides are unsafe is the type of pr they don't want. Even tho it gets their name out there it could cost them revenue from people that are in fear. My exhusband btw used to work with WestCoast Amusements which is a traveling thing here. They do amusement park rides and stuff... Like the CNE or PNE but on a much smaller scale. People get to know the rides if they always care for them. They know when it isn't right and when they need to do work on it or stop it. Only someone really green dealing with the ride wouldn't know. So unless the crew that delt with that one ride was very green at disney they've got alot of explaining to do... and disney having had rides for as many years as they have has a responsibility to their patrons to check things out and make sure. Even when subcontracting some amusement parks have their own inspectors check(quality control)... not read that article yet but perhaps they'd not run the quality control check. Not doing so leaves them at risk of liabilty lawsuits for personal damage suffered by people. People can sue disney direct and disney would have to sue the contracter to reclaim damages as they did whatever under disney's name. Now yes some people are sue happy idiots but generally if things are delt with right legally and otherwise it weeds out those and they don't get what they hoped.
