yes some go overkill... and yes again not as many will spay/neuter purebreds. But they keep more track of them too and don't let them go as wild. It's the unpurebred, mutts, etc that are running around neighbourhoods unfixed causing tons of puppies or kitties. Those I know with purebreed whatevers tend to keep a close eye on them. I don't see show cats or dogs or like running around loose in the neighbourhood.
Also despite what some think of petstores I don't think all are bad. At least where I am some people can bring their kittens in for sale. They get no profit from it other than maybe paying for their pet to be fixed. Some of the stores take in cats/kitties/puppies, etc from pet shelters to sell them. The sales price basically is to pay for the cost of shots and getting them fixed.(they usually come with a certificate to get them fixed) The city I'm in has a bi law and animals must be registered and they also ask to see papers that it was fixed or they can fine you. The pet cetra stores here work with human shelters to adopt off pets. Tho yea some still want cute baby animals alot of people are seeing the less hassle in a grown one and nobody wants to see them put down.
I think in other places that don't have the same regulations as my community, same awareness/help/cooperation with petstores, etc there probably is an issue. Also places where they don't have strict breeder guidelines for purebreeds as well. So what might be rampent and perhaps pet cruelty that exists in another country doesn't necisarily exist in all countries. |
