Frustrating linux video problem by Kickstart 2003-12-21 19:14:55
I just switched vidcards from NVidia TNT2-Vanta 16MB to a NVidia Riva TNT2 Model 64 32MB. Worked fine in Windows, but under linux it only will give me 800x600 or 640x480. I need 1024x768. Same monitor that gave me that with the 16MB card.

Applicable section of XF86Config:

Section "Monitor"
        Identifier "Monitor0"
        VendorName "Monitor Vendor"
        ModelName "Unknown monitor"
        DisplaySize 280 205
        HorizSync 31.5 - 37.9
        VertRefresh 50.0 - 70.0
        Option "dpms"
EndSection

Section "Device"
        Identifier "Videocard0"
        Driver "nv"
        VendorName "Videocard vendor"
        BoardName "RIVA TNT2"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Screen0"
        Device "Videocard0"
        Monitor "Monitor0"
        DefaultDepth 16
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 16
                Modes "1280x1024" "800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
EndSection
The monitor is a GVC M1566, but I can't find anything about it on the net for specs. It worked fine previously at 1024x768 as noted above with the above setup (unless Redhat screwed with XF86Config on reboot).

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

KS
