If you force your display to be UTF-8, for both entry and display ( you may need to do it manually), then the values aren't escaped and sent as UTF-8. If you don't use UTF-8 to display the page then you see what looks like junk: Japanese: 翻訳 Chinese: 翻译 Korean: 번역
