What I do recall, from the article, was that sibling pairings, where the siblings shared the same father but had different mothers, were common, among the aristocracy, during the Old Kingdom period in Egypt. The Pharoh's primary wife was the Pharoh's sister(s).
I also recall that the Qur'an had similar detailed prohibitions. Specifically regarding wives (note the plural) and required degree of separation. |
