| As far as I know, NO part of the cost of their habit is supposed to pay for such shelters. Where do you get this carp? Cigarette taxes mainly go toward Medicaid and education on the risks of smoking.
And the very next paragraph you say that most of the tax money is supposed top go toward offsetting their cost to society? How can that be if 75% is supposed top go for shelters? Well which is it? And, btw, the taxes are not nearly enough to offset the costs.
Given the rise in healthcare costs and the proven health risks of smoking, can you really not see where the money goes? (Especially when you factor in government inefficiency.)
They made their choice. It was solely their decision. Smokers need to accept the responibility for their own decisions.
