geek poll: what're your boxen named? by PsychoI3oy2003-12-19 22:07:38
with my newest: by harold 2003-12-19 23:10:36
peaches: all-purpose server
sniffer: wireless access point
bob: desktop for everyone's use
backup: take a wild guess
sid: wife's notebook
semichrist: my gaming notebook

Peaches, sniffer and bob run FreeBSD, bob and semichrist run WinXP Pro and sid runs Win98. I built peaches, bob and backup. Sniffer, sid and semichrist are all notebooks. I used to have another box running BeOS specifically to host a BBS, but I gave that up to make a NAT box for someone else (mrip below).

I also administer mrip (that's Mr IP, from a video meant to explain networking), do some light work on boatanchor (a reference to a BBS tagline "8088: the BBS that's as good as a doorstop"), and help family and friends with their (unnamed) machines.
