because having raised them I know they have enough brains not to run into the path of oncoming objects, and are mobile enough to dodge! Guilt? Guilt requires a perception of wrong-doing. In either case my only possible fault might be not paying enough attention, and that fault would be about equal. (The dog is larger, but moves into your way. The slug is slower, but much harder to see.)
