| You're right about the Pinkerton event. I think I look at the comparison as being unfair from giving more importance to immediacy. Yes, the union workers were badly abused by the Pinkertons in the past, but that has far less emotional involvement for me than recent events where priests are sexually abusing children.
Also, the villain in the two examples are on opposite sides. In Miko's case, the listener's affiliation was victimized. With soldier's suggestion, he vilifies Miko's chosen profession.
I don't discount what you wrote, but I think a more fair comparison would've been something along the lines of an event where priests or ministers were being beaten or abused. |
