it is not a banned substance. Note that doesn't mean that they should infringe on others rights. But, you cannot prevent someone else in partaking of a legal activity. You have to go through the steps of making it illegal first. That's the process. Anything less would be, literally, unamerican.
"Encouraging" them to quit smoking by making the experience as miserable as possible and denying them the benefits of the increasing tax money that they have paid (and that you, as non-smoker, haven't) is unethical, unfair, and should be illegal. It is the best current example of democratic tyranny I can think of.
You owe them, at least, a bit of shelter from the wind, a smidgen of heat, and as same sensitivity as you want for yourself. aka quid pro quo. |
