have their own enemy detection? I would guess that they are warned by some external radar/AWACS/whatever system. And that external warner would transmit the target's position in spacetime, i.e. when it is where. In this case both need to share a common spacetime coordinate system. A clock skew shifts the origin and makes the missile fire before or after the target.
